In more detail

Where each one fits

Tekmetric describes itself as all-in-one software for auto repair, and its feature list follows the repair order: inspections you share with the customer, a labor guide, integrated parts ordering, payments, texting, online scheduling and marketing. For an independent repair shop whose day is diagnosis, estimates and parts calls, that’s a focused set.

ShopJig covers the counter and the bays too (check-in with photos and signature, the job board, estimates approved by link, invoices and pay links), but it was built in a shop that also fabricates and sells parts. So it adds what repair-only systems don’t list: fab orders with BOMs, routings and travelers, operation time on the floor, a costed stock ledger shared with an online store that has vehicle fitment, and a day clock that feeds both payroll export and job costing.

What ShopJig doesn’t do

No third-party labor guide, no parts-catalog ordering integrations, no customer texting or marketing campaigns, and no QuickBooks Desktop. If your shop’s workflow depends on those, weigh them first.

Switching

ShopJig imports from Shopify (catalog, orders, customers) and QuickBooks (items, invoice history, estimates); see imports. Founding shops get hands-on help moving over.

Questions

Is ShopJig a Tekmetric alternative?

For a repair shop that also fabricates or sells parts online, it can be. For a shop that relies on a built-in labor guide, inspection texting, parts-catalog ordering and marketing, Tekmetric is built for that and ShopJig isn't.

Does ShopJig have a labor guide?

No. You can save standard job packages with their labor and parts and drop them onto an estimate, but there's no third-party labor guide.

How does ShopJig handle QuickBooks?

ShopJig keeps a costed ledger and posts each day's activity to QuickBooks Online as summary journal entries, with classes and locations, so receivables tie out. It doesn't connect to QuickBooks Desktop.
